The following project describes about the iPod information screen that displays the song artist, album, song duration and play/pause symbol and also has the capability of charging the iPod.

The components that are used in the project are listed as follows

  • Arduino
  • PodBreakout
  • Push Buttons (4x)
  • Graphical LCD (I used the MONOCHRON from Adafruit)
  • 10k Potentiometer (for contrast)
  • USB Mini Connector
  • 3.5mm Audio Jack
  • 100 Ohm Resistor
  • 1k Ohm Resistor (3x)
  • 1M Ohm Resistor (2x)
  • 33k Ohm Resistor (2x)
  • 22k Ohm Resistor
  • 47k Ohm Resistor
  • Male and Female Headers
  • Wire
  • Standoffs
  • Enclosures
  • Copper Clad Board

The software libraries that have been used in the project are iPodSerial and the GLCD, which can be easily downloaded from the internet and used as per the convenience.

For making the circuit, three different boards are used. This consists of the main board that has the Arduino and LCD display, button board that has been used just for holding the buttons, and the third one is the interface board that contains the resistors which are used for charging and the device recognition process.
