The article describes the briefly the mothodology to build radar for home usage. This can be done by following some simple steps. Read through to know more about this.
The components that are required to build the circuit is listed below:
- 20 led bar
- 18F4520 microcontroller
- Sonic module
- RS232 input and output connection
- Three buttons for setup
The entire circuit used is built on breadboards. The pushbuttons are being used here because it enables the user to enter into a setup mode where it is possible to define the scan speed as well as the scan area.
When the radar is in working stage, the servo rotates at 180º in both the directions and for each 9º it scans for objects present in the predetermined range. The LED bar indicates where the servo is pointing and whether it detected any object during the current pass or not.
For receiving the signals from the micro controller, the RS232 output is connected to the PC. Each time the micro controller detects the data or signal, the PC will receive the position and distance information.
