One of the most valuable items for all of us is our video game consoles. They are valued because of their price (it is not something cheap), but most of all because they are instruments and gadgets that give us lots of fun and entertainment.
Ironically, these are the objects that also attract the attention of all kind of crooks. If your house is burgled, then your video game console would also make it to the list of missing items. Obviously, when the crime is reported to the police, the objects are rarely recovered.
Therefore, the need of a console tracker is vital. The tracker is composed of an Arduino based system, along with a GPS board and tracker. The GPS module uses a prepaid SIM card that allows communication via SMS and/or email. The system is powered by a lithium polymer battery directly connected to AC.
The system is usually in standby mode to save power. It is triggered by a movement sensor connected to the device. As soon as the console movement is detected, the GPS works at full capacity, sending a Google Maps location via an HTML message to a predetermined cell phone number. The system receives instructions via SMS, allowing the user to trace the location of the console.
