Now you can remotely start your vehicle’s engine using your iPhone. Want to know how? Well, keep on reading.

This system was originally designed and tested on a Subaru Outback, but must work on every vehicle.  It is based on the sms responder perl code, which runs in a loop. This checks for new messages every 30 seconds.

The requirements for the project are listed below:
  • An old jailbroken iPhone
  • Arduino – iPhone breakout board
  • 10k resistors
  • TIP120
  • 5 volt switching supply cell charger
  • Avatar 3117 remote start
  • Some wiring ability

The system is basically configured to react as soon as it gets the SMS. This means that the first step will be to send a message with the keyword to the number you set as password.

Once received, the remote start grounds the power to start the engine and replies to your iPhone letting you know that the command was executed.

That’s it! With a quite simple process you can now start your car via sms wherever you are!
