This hack aims to create a surveillance-cellphone which is capable of taking videos and pictures of a target as it uses relays and a microcontroller. The final product is shown below with its bare components.

The design uses a Sony Ericsson T630 as the brave camera-cellphone with SIM card as shown in the image below. For the microcontroller, a PICAXE is used along with solenoid relays, photoresistor (LDR), LED, and some resistors.

The microcontroller will function as the brain while the relays will replace the fingers. One input is created for the microcontroller ad the 4 different keys on the phone will serve as the 4 outputs for the setup. It allows calling or sending SMS text message to the hacked phone. It will click its way though the menus after cycling through the code and then will take photos and return to the user. The wires of the joystick were soldered and to figure out the connections, another joystick has to be crack opened since the joystick has up, down, left, right, and center as possible connections.
Several different pins are required to be connected in a certain manner like the “Right” which is a combination of yellow, black, blue, & brown then purple & orange. By always keeping the wires connected, the operation can be rationalized. This made the phone immobilized although it made the joystick work. So this ends up using two relays instead as shown below.

To confirm that the program is running, the red LED standby was created. A LED connected to the speaker output shines onto the light dependent resistor (LDR) when a text or call is received. A screenshot of the code used is shown below.
Relays were chosen in this hack since transistors would cause the phone to stray voltages due to its sensitivity. As the code is running, the relays in the image below provide a visual and audible at each step. Since they can be interacted by just tapping them, it adds another great advantage. There are no end possibilities of this device as this surveillance-phone works like a charm. It can be used to monitor the dorm when everyone is away.
