A homemade Back to the Future replica is illustrated in this mod which can be easily constructed by modifying a 1981 Delorean which comes with gull-wing rise up doors. A video of its assembly and operation is provided below.
The image below shows the initial design of the car before all the major body components are installed. The rear window glass in the passenger compartment was not removed in order to keep the car driveable in all weather but along with the glass over the engine compartment, the rear louvre has been removed.
The start of the Flux Band Brackets that go around the front and back of the car is also shown below along with one half of the master for the Boxes that go at the ends of the Flux Bands. The original master was coated with Petroleum Jelly to avoid RTV from sticking since it was made from MDF while giving the master a really cool texture.

The metal bands are seen in the images below where the conduit pipe on the car is riveted to the metal mesh with a metal band that wraps around the pipe using the flux band materials. To match the originals, the Red Drive capacitors are custom made as well as the little black drum details. Plastic food containers or a resin cast of same were spray painted/tinted resin black to look like the black boxes installed ahead of the reactor. Similar to the blue ones on the other side of the car, the red cans appear to be 3 terminal electrolytic capacitors while the blue cans appear to be large electrolytic capacitors with 2 screws in wire terminals on the top.

The reactor core and rear vents were painted properly as shown below where the vents are a mix of Anodized Bronze, Metallic Black, and Semi-Gloss Black while the reactor is semi-gloss black. The metal heatsinks around the reactor are riveted or screwed around the base. Until a more accurate version of reactor cap can be fabricated or found, a yellow temporary object was used. The vent ducts were plain silver tubing with a couple of coats of Copper, Metallic Black, and Polished Aluminum spray paint which are screwed to the rear vents and towers using PVC end caps and steel hose clamps.
The hub cap from an older Chrysler vehicle 1968-1970 was used for the top of the reactor turbine. Coming from an old turbojet engine, the top section is a Turbo Vent Ring or Turbine Exhaust Ring.

Just like the movie car, the rear vents were designed to disassemble in order to lift the rear deck up as shown below. To be able to lift up the deck to get at the engine internals, the lower sections of the vents that cover part of the taillights were made removable. Since the electrical systems are immediately below the window area on the rear cargo area, the rear window was not taken out. The plugs used by Doc Brown at the end of the film on the clock tower were also imitated using reused spare parts. Two pieces of PVC pipe and some sheet styrene were used to make the Wormhole Emitter that goes on top.

The images of the final design are shown below.
